Carlos Santana worried his fans when fainted and collapsed while giving a concert in Michigan this Tuesday, July 5th night.
The legendary 74-year-old guitarist was playing one of his new songs when he had to sit on one of the stands and then fell apart. By then, he was already assisted by his work team and later by doctors.
He had to be rushed to a hospital amid uncertainty about his condition. At the concert the organizers asked for prayers for him. They said it was coming “a serious medical issue”according to the EFE news agency.
Carlos Santana ‘is fine’ after fainting at concert
A rep for Santana confirmed to People magazine in a statement that the artist’s meltdown was “due to heat exhaustion and dehydration“.
“The great guitarist walked out of his concert at the Pine Knob Music Theater (formerly DTE Energy Music Theatre), an outdoor amphitheater in Clarkston, about 40 miles northwest of Detroit, Michigan,” he said, according to the published media report. Wednesday July 6th.
“Carlos was taken to the McLaren Clarkston emergency department for observation and it is OK“, he assured.
TMZ also reported that a representative said the artist was fine and agreed with the diagnosis.
According to the review on this site, the Jalisco man had already played “4 or 5 songs and started playing a song called “Joy” when the incident happened.
Santana’s manager Michael Vrionis also confirmed to People that the concert scheduled for this Wednesday at The Pavilion at Star Lake in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania, “postponed”.
Carlos Santana’s health in recent months
The iconic musician’s health has been in jeopardy for the past few months.
He had one “unplanned heart surgery” last December which forced him to cancel several of his Las Vegas concerts.
“There have been rumors here and there about this and that, so I’m here to make it clearThe artist said in a video he posted on his social media accounts at the time.
“Last Saturday I had an incident where I I asked my wife, Cindy, to take me to the hospital because something was happening in my chest.
“When we got there, we found out I had to take care of it. So I am and I will take some time to recoverrest and catch up on my health,” he warned his followers.
“So when I play for you guys, I play it like I used to and give 150 percent,” he promised.
