Boi Caprichoso wins Garantido for third consecutive time in Parintins; see reactions


Association won with presentations on the Amazon and the origin of bumbá

Boi Caprichoso won his 26th title Parintins Folklore Festival. With the theme “Culture – The Triumph of the People”, this Monday, the first, the association won the title for the third consecutive year.

The last time Caprichoso won three consecutive years was between 1994 and 1995. The achievement was celebrated at the Parintins Cultural Center, Bumbódromo, in Amazonas.

On Friday 28th, the first night of the festival, Caprichoso presented indigenous, black, river influences and masters of the popular culture of the Amazon. On Saturday 29th he presented the historic creation of the boi-bumbá and on Sunday 30th he praised the ancestral knowledge of the forests.

The judges gave the victory to Boi Caprichoso, in the white and blue colors, over Boi Garantido, in the red colors. The historic dispute has been held for 57 editions in Parintins, about 370 from Manaus, a municipality of 115 thousand inhabitants.

Next Saturday, the 6th, the Caprichoso team will travel by boat to the capital of the Amazon to celebrate the title. Samba schools in Rio de Janeiro, such as Imperatriz Leopoldinense and Salgueiro, congratulated Caprichoso on social media.

On the other hand, former BBB Isabelle Nogueira, Garantido’s sister-in-law, lamented the result. “Unfortunately, our ox did not win. You saw it there. There was a difference of one tenth. Our hearts are sad, we are sad, but everything will be fine,” she posted on social media.
