Two former employees of Gal Costa (1945-2022) have filed labor lawsuits in São Paulo, naming the singer’s estate and his widow, businesswoman Wilma Petrillo, as defendants. The documents were signed in late May by the former housekeeper and the former general services employee.
According to information obtained this Tuesday 2 by the editorialist Ancelmo Goisformer employees complain about the non-payment of food assistance, FGTS, 13th salary, vacations, overtime and other basic rights, in addition to not having it registered on their work card. In total, the amount requested is R$ 1,141,581.07.
In the case of the maid, the lawsuit recounts her work history at Gal’s house, noting that she worked at two addresses, Jardim Paulista and Jardim Europa, where the family lived before the artist’s death. The properties were inhabited by the singer and his wife Wilma, as well as by their son Gabriel and the widow’s sister, who also gave him orders.
The former domestic worker alone claims to be entitled to more than R$ 832,000 in compensation for her work. Her case is being processed by the 82nd Labor Court, with the first hearing scheduled for August 1.
The former General Services employee’s case is being considered by the 74th Labor Court, with a preliminary hearing set for August 5, four days after the other professional’s.
