Sergio Hodjakoff recalls addiction: “I’m ashamed of having fallen into drugs”

Sergio Hodjakoff, who became known as the Head of Mischiefhe admitted the feeling of shame for having become addicted to drugs. At 39, the actor has been admitted to rehab clinics 12 times and has been clean for two.

One of the protagonists of TV Globo’s production, Hodjakoff currently works as a character in advertising campaigns, has adopted anti-addiction activism and maintains contact with fans through social media.

The actor said it He started smoking marijuana at the age of 14when he started his career in Malhação, as a way to deal with ADHD (attention deficit disorder). However, the effect was detrimental to the boy’s life, who dropped out of school.

“At the time, marijuana helped me feel more relaxed. It was a shamanic awakening for me. I felt safe and it helped me go home from taping the soap opera and go to sleep. I thought it helped me solve problems in my mind. The drug made me stop reading and studying,” he continued.

Shortly after, at the age of 15, Hodjakoff began using cocaine. The actor even thought about leaving his artistic life to enroll in the faculty of exact sciences, but he failed.

What had initially been used to combat ADHD began to worsen Hodjakoff’s mental condition. He revealed that he began to have psychotic disorders and problems in his personal life.

“I started having panic disorder and a predisposition to schizophrenia. I was withdrawing from my friends, I couldn’t go out with anyone,” recalled the actor, who today uses the past to stay clean: “Remembering what I went through in a rehab clinic encourages me to stay away from drugs.”

Hodjakoff is currently receiving professional psychological support. In this new phase, he wants to return to acting in films and is also trying to improve his relationship with his four-year-old son Benjamin.
