OR Miss Canada 2024 promises to attract the attention of Brazilians this Saturday 27. This is because one of the competitors is a model from Mato Grosso Raika Coutinho. At 36, she has lived in Canada for ten years and has been working as a model since she was 21.

Raika began her career in Belo Horizonte. In 2011, she competed for Miss Globo Minas Gerais. Her work as a model took her to live in Italy, Mexico and the United States, before moving to Canada. Today, she is a citizen of the country.

Besides being a model, Raika also owns a marketing agency.

Today, she sees progress in the competition. “As a black woman, I think representation is important. A lot has changed these days,” she told CNN.

Raika competes a year after the pageant removed the requirement that women be 28 and older. The oldest contestant in this year’s Miss Canada is Lorraine Peters, 58.

If she wins, Raika will be the second Brazilian to be crowned Miss Canada: before her was the winner Marianna Valentein 2009.

Miss Canada will take place in Ontario and will be broadcast this Saturday, 27, at 9 p.m. (Brasilia time) on the official website of the event.
