Dead at 88, Alain Delon Dated a Brazilian Actress and Lived Intense Days in the Countryside

Great heartthrob of French cinema passes away after long suffering and asks for euthanasia

“The last great sacred monster of cinema”, this is how Alain Delon was defined by an interviewee on the French channel CNews. The actor died at the age of 88 this Sunday, the 18th, in his country house in Douchy, 150 km south of Paris.

An idol for generations, he was considered the most handsome man on the planet. His blue eyes and charm fascinated women and men, even in Brazil.

The actor has been in the country a few times. He had a love affair with actress Norma Bengell, an icon of national cinema. In his maturity, he played Dona Deise in the humorous show ‘Toma Lá Dá Cá’, on Globo.

Delon was also enchanted by the singer Rosemary, but his feelings were not reciprocated. According to social media reports of the time, the model Fernanda Bruni also snubbed him.

During one of his visits to Brazil, the artist said he had fulfilled a childhood dream: visiting Bahia. He was always enchanted by the photos of the city of Salvador. In Rio he enjoyed the parties and the Carnival.

Remembered for his performances in classics such as “The Leopard”, “The Sun and the Witnesses” and “Rocco and His Brothers”, Alain Delon spent the last years of his life in the martyrdom of physical and emotional pain.

He even intended to hasten his death by undergoing surgery in a Swiss clinic. His three children prevented him from doing so. “I want to die, life is over,” he said, weakened by the after-effects of the stroke.

The latest life record were two photos posted by his daughter, Anouchka Delon, on Instagram, showing the actor under the care of a barber, on July 13.

She and her brothers Anthony and Alain-Fabien are at war over the administration of their father’s estate. The French heartthrob is estimated to have left an inheritance equivalent to R$800 million.
