Gloria Perez Moved by Daughter Daniella’s AI-Generated Hug: ‘Speechless’

Gloria Perez watched an embrace between her and Daniella Perez, her brutally murdered daughter, in a video created by artificial intelligence.

The author Gloria Perez – who praised Netflix’s melodrama, Piece of Me – was surprised by an exciting gift from the digital artist Hidreley Diao. Using artificial intelligence, Hidreley created a video in which Glória “hugs” her daughter, Daniella Perezbrutally murdered in 1992. The reconstruction, made with old photos, shows mother and daughter touching each other and smiling, as if they were together today.

This Monday (19), the profile published the touching video on Instagram, after seeing it a tribute that the author paid to her daughter August 11. The date marked the day Daniella would have turned 54. Glória then reflected on the loss of her daughter and the impossibility of having her back: “This magic that you never knew allows the illusion of bringing you back, of making you present in our homes today, and in the moments in which you did not have the chance to live. Now it can also make us hug. I have tried many times, but I still have not been able to make it work. It is an illusory hug, but a hug nonetheless.”

Touched by the author’s words, Hidreley decided to create the video as a way to give her a symbolic moment of reunion. “I decided to give Glória a gesture that, to my great joy, moved her deeply. This reminds us that, even when the pain seems immense, art and love have the power to connect us and offer us comfort,” she explained in the caption of the post.
