The NFL announced this Sunday, September 8, the artist that will be performing on the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show which will take place at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana on Sunday, February 9, 2025.
Who Will Host Super Bowl Halftime?
The chosen one was rapper Kendrick Lamar: “Rap music remains the most impressive genre to date. And I’ll be there to remind people why they chose it,” the singer wrote in a statement.
The multiple GRAMMY and Emmy Award-winning performer has been gaining recognition since releasing his debut album ‘Good kid, mAAd city’ in 2012.
Since then, the artist has collected 17 GRAMMYs and become the the first non-classical musician to win a Pulitzer Prize for his 2017 album ‘DAMN’.
“Few artists have had as profound an impact on music and culture as Kendrick Lamar. Kendrick has proven his unique ability to create moments that resonate, redefine and shake the very foundations of hip-hop,” said Seth Dudowsky, NFL director of music.
Lamar’s latest album, ‘Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers was released in May 2022.
In April of this year a track from his album spent three weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and in June, the hit “Not Like Us” spent two weeks at No. 1.
” The Super Bowl halftime show is a celebration of the music we love and the incredible artists who create it, all on the world’s biggest stage. “Apple is thrilled to bring this show, starring the absolutely incomparable Kendrick Lamar,” said Oliver Schusser, vice president of Apple Music.
In last February’s edition of Super Bowl LVIII, the halftime show was hosted by Usher.
This concert became the most popular in history 129.3 million views, relegated Rihanna to second place with her show she saw 121 million people.
