Rapper R. Kelly’s Alleged Sexual Victim Says They’re Engaged

One of the alleged victims of the American rapper R. Kelly, 22-year-old Joycelyn Savage, called for a commutation of the sentence he received two weeks ago. As an argument set out in the letter, she called their engagement. At the same time, her parents doubt that the proposal was.

My name is Jocelyn Savage and I am Robert Kelly’s fiancée,” she says to Judge Anne Donnelly in a June 13 letter obtained by Page Six. “I am writing this letter in support of Robert before he is sentenced, so that I can explain to the court that I am not the victim that I am portrayed to be. And Robert is not the monster that the lawyers presented him with. The Robert I know is very sweet, gentle and kind. After all, he always made sure that I was taken care of, just like any other women he was with.

Savage described her relationship with the 55-year-old I Believe I Can Fly singer almost enthusiastically, saying they have a “special bond” and “strong love.” She also called him “an incredible person” who “seizes every opportunity to help those in need.”

Robert and I are in love and it hurts that society has created a narrative that I am a victim. I am a grown woman and can speak for myself, so I wanted to present this letter to the court.

The Atlanta native met the rapper in March 2019 when she was 19. And the accusations against Kelly were made by her parents. Later, a post posted on Savage’s page went viral:

I was delirious. Why would anyone think they like to keep me locked up like some damned animal.

But after she denied that she had published such a thing, and stated that it was not her page, but someone impersonating her.

In September 2021, R. Kelly was charged with sexual offenses spanning more than two decades. During the jury trial, 11 accusers, including 9 women and two men, described in detail how they were lured and kidnapped for the musician, after which they were sexually abused by him. It also turned out that R. Kelly illegally smuggled women across the border and sold them for the purpose of sexual exploitation. After two days of discussions, the rapper was found guilty on 9 of the 13 counts.

Recall that R. Kelly is a three-time Grammy Award winner, a veteran of rap and rhythm and blues. During his career, he released 14 studio albums, dozens of singles and the main hit of the late 1990s “I Believe I Can Fly”.
