JLo’s ex is arrested: accused of sex trafficking and organized crime

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs was arrested this Monday, September 16, in New York City. The rapper faces federal sex trafficking and extortion charges in an indictment, unsealed Tuesday, that alleges he beat and abused women for more than a decade and ran a sordid sex crime empire.

The music mogul “engaged in a persistent and pervasive pattern of abuse toward women and others,” according to an indictment filed Tuesday.

The indictment details allegations dating back to 2008 that he abused, threatened and coerced women for years “to satisfy his sexual desires, protect his reputation and conceal his conduct.”

He is accused of inciting victims and male sex workers to have drugged sex, sometimes lasting, called “Freak Offs” (a slang term for unorthodox sex) in the indictment, which obliquely mentions an assault on his ex-girlfriend, R&B. singer Cassie, who was captured on video.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has denied the allegations

Over the past year, Combs has been sued by people who claim he physically or sexually abused them. He has denied many of those allegations, and his attorney, Marc Agnifilo, said outside court Tuesday morning that Combs will plead not guilty and fight hard to free his client.

Agnifilo said of Combs: “His spirit is good. He’s confident.”

The indictment describes Combs, 54, as the head of a criminal enterprise engaged in or attempting to engage in activities such as sex trafficking, forced labor, interstate transportation for the purpose of prostitution, drug crimes, kidnapping, arson, bribery and obstruction of justice. He is accused of hitting and dragging the women on multiple occasions, throwing objects at them and kicking them and enlisting his personal assistants, security staff and domestic staff to cover it all up.

As the threat of criminal charges loomed, Combs and his associates coerced witnesses and victims into remaining silent, including attempting to bribe them and provide a false account of events, the indictment says.

All of this, prosecutors allege, was happening behind the facade of Combs’ global music, lifestyle and fashion empire.
