In light of the investigation, Andrea da Cruz reiterated that the Judiciary needs courage to confront “dark interests” and act for the common good, without being influenced by the economic power or social status of those under investigation.

Decision decreeing the arrest of Gustavo Lima
The preventive arrest warrant was issued by Judge Andrea Calado da Cruz, of the 12th Criminal Court of Recife. The magistrate accepted the request of the Civil Police of Pernambuco. The Public Prosecutor of Pernambuco, on Friday 20, would have requested the replacement of preventive arrests with other precautionary measures, but the judge rejected these arguments.
“It is imperative to emphasize that Nivaldo Batista Lima [nome verdadeiro de Gusttavo Lima]harboring fugitives, demonstrates an alarming lack of regard for justice. Your extensive financial relationships with these individuals, which include suspicious movements, raise serious questions about your involvement in criminal activity. Your company’s connection to the money laundering network suggests a commitment that cannot be ignored,” the judge wrote in the document.
During the investigation, the Civil Police affirmed that through Esportes da Sorte, one of the companies investigated in Operation Integration, the system would use Balada Eventos – a company in which Gusttavo Lima is a partner – and two other companies to launder money.
The Pernambuco court had already ordered the freezing of R$ 20 million in assets of the singer’s company. In response to the movement, Gusttavo Lima, last week, stated on social media that “Balada Eventos was included in the scope of the operation simply because it had made commercial transactions with the companies under investigation” and claimed that there had been an excess on the part of the authority.
