Lawyer comments on the decision of the Pernambuco court to order the arrest of singer Gusttavo Lima

This Monday (23), the Court of Justice of Pernambuco issued an arrest warrant against the singer Gusttavo Lima. The singer is accused of having facilitated the escape of José André da Rocha Neto, owner of the Vaidebet betting house, and his wife Aislla Rocha. Both have outstanding arrest warrants since early September. Gusttavo Lima, in turn, was in Greece to celebrate his 35th birthday.

The judge responsible for the decision harshly criticized the singer’s involvement – who recently became embroiled in controversy after posting a video of his seven-year-old son driving a car – saying that Gusttavo Lima’s relationship with the couple and suspicious financial transactions raise serious questions about his involvement in criminal activity. “Your company’s connection to the money laundering network suggests a commitment that cannot be ignored,” the judge wrote.

In an interview with BAND’s “Brasil Urgente,” criminal lawyer Yuri Sahione criticized the court’s decision. According to Sahione, Gusttavo Lima had no obligation to hand over the Rochas to the authorities, since he is not a public official. “He is not a public official and has no obligation to hand those people over to prison,” he said.
