Karnal criticized, on his Instagram, the approach of a newspaper that highlighted the age difference between him and his husband, Vitor Fadul, with the headline: “Leandro Karnal makes rare public appearance with husband 30 years younger.”
Karnal, known for his reflections on ethics and behavior, responded to the publication:
“Vitor and I made a ‘rare’ appearance. Could it be? We go to the gym together every morning. In the last few days we have been to two restaurants and a concert. We need to think about what ‘rare’ means.”
In addition to questioning the definition of “rare apparition”, the historian criticized the anti-aging tone of the title:
“The title draws attention to the age difference, to pure ageism… I would recommend reading my book: Prejudice, a story.”
