Chiquinho made history in the Marquês de Sapucaí together with his mother, the standard bearer Maria Helena. In recent years he has held the position of “flagship” of the school, an honor bestowed on historic names.

“Chiquinho will never be forgotten and deserves all the tributes and reverence for his contribution to the greatest cultural event of our country. Our gratitude and feelings towards his family, his friends and his fans are recorded here,” he concluded the Empress’s declaration.
