Isa Pantoja has opened up about her complicated relationship with her mother, Isabel Pantoja, who she believes has not loved her as much as her brother, Kiko, because she is adopted.
The TV presenter shared that after not having contact with the veteran singer for months, she decided to end their relationship.
“It’s like I’ve lost a mother for the second time. He adopted me and like someone who abandons … not even a dog,” he said last Friday, October 18, according to the Spanish portal Diario de Cadiz.
According to her, Isabel forgave Kiko after harsh statements he made. However, he has not been able to do the same with her, the report states.
“How serious was I that he doesn’t want to know anything about me?” Issa asked with a sad face.
Isa Pantoja talks about healing her mother and her family
In an extensive interview as a guest on the Spanish show ‘De Viernes!’, the evening of the same day, Isa Pantoja confessed that she had reached her breaking point with Isabel Pantoja.
This is because the famous interpreter did not visit or call her at the hospital after her recent emergency operation for appendicitis.
Reflecting on her childhood, the host, who “La Pantoja” was legally adopted in 1996 when she was five months old in Peru, explained that there were differences between her and her brother Kiko because she was not a biological daughter.
“I honestly believe that my mother’s family was not prepared for adoption. “Maybe she was the most ready, but she didn’t know how to handle it,” she said.
She recalled that her grandmother, Doña Ana, never fully accepted her and how as a child she experienced constant confrontations with her uncle, Agustín Pantoja.
‘Chabelita’, as she is fondly called, even revealed that at the age of 10 she went nine months without speaking to her mother after a fight with him.
“My daughter flew, she says, when she was 18. But it wasn’t like that: at 18 he walked out the door, but she left before. A long time ago… And that’s what I’ve been through,” he explained.
Isa Pantoja asserts that her mother did not defend her
On this occasion, Isa Pantoja revealed that her mother would not defend her, as she should, in the face of the negative treatment of Kiko and other relatives.
“My brother called me exclusive, I’ve also heard a lot of things and I’m not stupid,” she said.
“I know an adult is the one who has to make room for a child and he should have said ‘she’s my daughter and she should be treated the same as my son and anyone who doesn’t love her should leave.’ And when I got older, I normalized a lot of things, like not talking to her,” he said.
Despite what she has been through, the communicator assured that “I will never say that she is a bad mother, because she has given me a lot, but I have missed emotional things. Materially, I had everything, but I lacked complicity and approach.”
Of his detachment, he reflected: “It’s like, ‘If I’ve seen you, I don’t remember.’ It’s a “I brought you and now I don’t want to know anything about you.” “I don’t know how he lives like this.”
“I think my mother loves me, in her own way. But it’s like it didn’t exist. He hasn’t given me a reason, made me feel guilty, or made me feel sorry. It is, directly, zero contact,” he explained.
So far, Isabel has not commented on Isa’s statements, however, journalist Antonio Rossi told the show “Let’s see” that the artist would not have seen the interview.
“She locked herself in her room at Cantora, but she became interested,” he commented, adding that it was supposed that even though she was curious, her brother Agustín did not allow her to attend the “show”.
