Maguila’s eldest son, Adenilson Rodrigues, gave a speech in defense of his stepmother, Irani Pinheiro, during the boxers’ vigil this Friday (25). THE The athlete died at the age of 66 after years of treatment for an incurable disease.

Adenilson also pointed out that Irani held firm even when Maguila was resistant to treatment. “She cried for a long time in silence, so that no one would know about her pain. She was suffering, he was already suffering, she didn’t want to listen, she didn’t want to help anyone, she was the one who bore it. She told him to take the medicine, he didn’t want to take it, I didn’t want to stop fighting. If it wasn’t for this warrior woman by his side, he wouldn’t have made it where he is,” he added.
