The 47-year-old actor opened up about his battle with colorectal cancer
James Van Der Beekprotagonist of the series “Dawson’s Creek”, revealed that he had been diagnosed with colorectal cancer. The announcement of the fight against the disease was made in an interview with the magazine People.

“I have colorectal cancer. I faced this particular diagnosis and took steps to resolve it, with the support of my incredible family,” the 47-year-old actor said.
The unexpected announcement, however, was accompanied by reassurances towards fans and friends: “there are reasons for optimism and I feel good”, he explained.
While undergoing cancer treatment, James Van Der Beek continues to work in television. He recently appeared in an episode of Walker and is part of the cast of the film Sidelined: The QB and Me, out in late November.
Later this year, the actor is expected to air in a two-hour episode of the series The Real Full Monty. As part of raising awareness, men from the arts and sports world will talk about different types of cancer.
In addition to his work, the actor prioritizes time spent with his family. In June he went to Egypt accompanied by his wife and six children. Reports of the trip were published on the star’s social networks.
Known primarily for his work on Dawson’s Creek (1998-2003), James Van Der Beek has appeared in successful productions. He has appeared in episodes of series such as How I Met Your Mother, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Criminal Minds.
Colorectal cancer affects parts of the large intestine (colon) and rectum. If detected early, the condition is, in most cases, treatable, according to the National Cancer Institute – INCA.
