The actor’s publicist confirmed that the snake was a ball python (Royal Python), also known as the royal python or ball python.
The couple did not reveal the full outcome of the episode, but assured that everyone was safe and sound and unharmed. “This is the fifth time a snake appears here, but the first time in the house. What do we do?”, wrote Julio in a final post on the topic.
The discovery has sparked curiosity about the presence of this type of animal in urban areas. To better understand the situation, the Earth consulted Nayra Gualberto, biologist and researcher of the Serpentes do DF Project, at the Catholic University of Brasilia, who detailed the risks and origin of the royal python.
Nayra explained that it is not a species native to Brazil and therefore does not belong to the Brazilian fauna. “If it’s really a royal pythonis a snake found in central and western Africa. It lives in forests, flooded areas and open fields such as savannahs. Maybe it was looking for refuge,” the biologist said.
Regarding the risks posed by the royal python, the biologist underlined that this snake, like boa constrictors, does not possess venom.
“Like boas, pythons are constrictor snakes and have no venom. But it’s worth remembering that when they feel threatened, they may try to defend themselves,” he explained.
The expert said it is not common to find a ball python outside its natural habitat. “Since it is an exotic snake, it would not be possible to find this species in the natural habitats of Brazil. It was probably bred as a pet and ended up escaping,” he said.
He further explained that due to the popularity of this species as a pet, cases like Julio Rocha’s are not uncommon and require care and responsibility.
“Always call the state environmental police and never try to remove the snake yourself, to avoid injuring yourself or the animal. Only specialized people should handle wild animals,” Nayra warned.
