THE Singer Cauê Felici Muniz do Santos, who died in a car accident, beat cancer a few years ago. He was diagnosed in 2009, when he was 18, and managed to beat Hodkin’s lymphoma, the type that attacks the lymphatic system, after undergoing a bone marrow transplant.

The artist was from São Carlos, in the interior of São Paulo, and sought medical help to treat tuberculosis. However, after carrying out an x-ray examination, the specialist noticed a large spot which later turned out to be lymphoma.

Due to the treatment, Cauê had to leave the Faculty of Physical Education, he was studying at the Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp). At the time his family moved from Presidente Venceslau (SP) to São Carlos to help him with his daily difficulties.

The chemotherapy worked, but it wasn’t enough. He then had to undergo an autotransplant. “I was lucky that my bone marrow was preserved and I was able to do it,” he told G1 in 2018.

After months of treatment, he went into remission. In 2013 he resumed his career. In 2015 he resumed studying physical education, now at UFSCAR. At night he played in bars and restaurants.

The singer was involved in a road accident on the Rodovia Washington Luís, in Araraquara (SP), at km 264. According to the authorities, a Gol vehicle was heading inland when it crossed the road and collided head-on with the Palio led by the artist. . The reasons for the accident are still being investigated.

Cauê and the driver of the Gol were rescued by the Mobile Emergency Health Service (Samu) and taken to Santa Casa de Araraquara. There is no information on the survivor’s health condition.

Cauê’s death generated a stir on social media. The singer’s body was buried this Sunday, the 17th, in the São Carlos cemetery. The burial took place shortly afterwards, around 11.15am.
