In an interview with CARAS Brasil, cardiologist Valéria Braile reveals the possible consequences of Mario Frias’s diagnosis
Mario Friasformer heartthrob and federal MP, he was rushed to hospital at the beginning of November due to a thrombosis. In hospital he was diagnosed with arterial thrombosis, which can be very serious if not treated properly. In an interview with CARAS Brazilcardiologist Valeria Braille warns that the condition can lead to amputation.
The cardiologist explains that the consequences can manifest themselves in different ways. “We range from a less functional organ, as in the case of Mario Frias, the foot; lack of sensation with difficulty in locomotion and balance; risk of injury, since it does not have adequate sensitivity; until amputation.”
The specialist also states that, for the diagnosis to occur, the patient must have some predisposing factors. “No one will have an arterial thrombosis without any problems“, adds the doctor.
“There are genetic causes that favor the formation of clots or, more commonly, the alteration of blood vessels, with fatty plaques, which can also trigger the formation of clots.“, adds Braile.

- High cholesterol levels;
- Smoking;
- Sedentary lifestyle;
- Arterial hypertension
The doctor says there are some measures that can improve these risk factors, such as “Medical monitoring and medications can avoid or greatly minimize these risks, especially quitting smoking and controlling diabetes“.
Former Globo heartthrob, Mario Frias has worked as an actor and television host and, more recently, has begun to devote himself to politics, joining the Liberal Party (PL). Between June 2020 and March 2022 he was Undersecretary of Culture in the government of Jair Bolsonaro. He is currently a federal deputy for Sao Paulo.
