Ashley Judd spoke about a frank conversation with her rapist

Ashley Judd, 54, who has experienced three rapes in her life, was a guest on the Healing with David Kessler podcast and spoke about talking to one of her abusers. Note that this is a normal practice in the judicial system – the meeting of the victim and the offender is carried out within the framework of restorative justice. This method allows you to resolve the conflict – at the end of the meeting, the offender must repent and decide how to compensate for the damage from his atrocity. After the rape in 1999, Judd found the man who attacked her and arranged a meeting with him, which, according to the actress, was not difficult.

We ended up together in rocking chairs by a stream. And I said, “I’m very interested to hear the story you’ve been carrying all these years.” And we had a restorative justice conversation about this,” the star shared. “I wanted to share this story because there are so many ways to heal from grief. I didn’t need anything from him, and it was great that he made amends and expressed deep remorse, because healing is an inside job.

The actress noted that this experience gave her the opportunity to “work through the trauma”, but the very fact of rape led to the fact that she forgot how to trust people.

Ashley Judd has always been open about rape. For example, in 2019, she spoke at the World Women’s Summit, where she admitted that after one of the attacks she had to have an abortion.

I am very grateful that I was able to access a safe and legal abortion because this Kentucky rapist, like me, is legally a parent in Kentucky. I would have to share parental rights with the rapist, she said then.

Ashley Judd was one of the first actresses to accuse the notorious film producer Harvey Weinstein of violence in 2017. Then she stated that he forced her to watch him take a shower.

Ashley Judd is best known for her roles in the films Fight (1995), Kissing the Girls (1997), Frida (2003) and others. The actress was twice nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in the mini-series Norma Jean and Marilyn and the musical Pet.

In April of this year, the actress experienced another tragedy: her mother, the famous country singer Naomi Judd, committed suicide – a woman shot herself in her own home.
