Episode narrated by João Kléber underlines the sense of gratitude of the “king” with whom he helped him at the beginning of his career
In Milton Neves 100 mimimi podcast by Milton Neves and Mauro Beting, João Kléber told what he saw the night of Chacrinha’s death, one of the most important animators of the auditorium in the history of Globo.
Known as “Old Warrior”, he died at the age of 70, in heart attack, at home, in Rio, on June 30, 1988.
“I arrived (in Chacrinha’s residence), Roberto Carlos arrived with Myriam Rios about 20 minutes. They were married. Boy, I saw a scene that I will never forget in my life.”
According to Kléber, the singer was soon seeing the presenter’s body. “Roberto Carlos entered the room, Chacrinha was lying on the bed, an exciting scene. Roberto Carlos made a narration of his story talking to Chacrinha and Myriam next to it,” he recalls. “Telling” Wow, old (warrior), memories, so I don’t know what, blah blah blah … ”
The next day, the “Jornal Nacional” showed the image of “King” who gets off the car in front of the “casino” guest house. “Chacrinha was what brought me … through him, I recorded my first album. Anyway, all of us, I am very sad for this, really,” said the singer.
“Roberto has never stopped going to any birthday of Chacrinha in his programs,” said João Kléber. “Roberto’s contract with Globo is only his special for the holidays, he will not go to (another) any program. In Chacrinha, he was going.”
After introducing his work, Roberto Carlos had Chacrinha’s help to be received from record labels. So he managed to get off his career.
At the beginning Tv Tupi, the young Cachoeiro do Itapemirim had the opportunity to participate in the painting “Singer Masked Singer” (a kind of “Singer Brasil”), in the “Discovery do do Chacrinha” program.
The success on TV helped Roberto Carlos become popular in the four corners of Brazil. In 1982, when the “Old Warrior” reintegrated to Globo, the already consecrated singer made a assistance point.
