Sylvester Stallone has once again shown his anger with Irwin Winkler for the announcement of an Ivan Drago spin-off
It’s been a couple of weeks since Sylvester Stallone was furious about the distribution of the rights to ‘Rocky’ on social networks, but the anger continues and yesterday it increased even more.
The creator of ‘Rocky’ continues to show his anger towards Irwin Winkler, the person who owns the rights to the character and the person in charge of the spin off of ‘Creed’. The reason this time is the announcement of a new film based on Ivan Drago, the Russian boxer played by Dolph Lundgren in the original saga. And Stallone is not only resentful with Winkler, but also with Lundgren himself for not having consulted him or mentioned any details about it.
“Disheartening… I just found out… ONCE AGAIN, IRWIN WINKLER, this PATHETIC 94-YEAR-OLD PRODUCER AND HIS MOTHERFUCKING VULTURE CHILDRENCharles and David are once again slicing THE BONES of another wonderful character I created without even telling me… I APOLOGIZE TO THE FANS, I never wanted the ROCKY characters to be exploited by these parasites… By the way, I have nothing but respect for Dolph but he NEVER told me what was going on behind my back with the character I created for him!!! REAL FRIENDS are more precious than gold.”
Recall that Lundgren, in addition to sharing the lead with Stallone in ‘Rocky IV’, appeared in the sequel to ‘Creed’ recovering his iconic character Ivan Drago. At the moment it is unknown if he will play it again in the announced spin-off.
The thing did not stop there, since a few hours later the actor vented again by publishing a photomontage of Winkler characterized as a vampire and sucking the blood of Rocky Balboa himself.
Stallone posted a couple of weeks ago a drawing depicting Wrinkler as a knife-tongued snakeexpressing his desire to charge an amount more in line with his role in the franchise.
“A VERY flattering portrait of the great Rocky/Creed producer, IRWIN WINKLER, of one of the best artists in the country…ALSO after IRWIN controlled ROCKY for over 47 years, and now CREED, I would really like to have at least a little bit of WHAT LEFT behind my RIGHTSbefore passing it ONLY TO HIS CHILDREN – I think it would be a FAIR gesture from this 93-year-old man… This is a painful subject that eats at my soul, because I wanted to leave something of Rocky for my childrenbut it’s always good to hear from the loyal fans…Keep banging.”
Stallone has on other occasions expressed his discontent with the franchise’s profits, stating in 2019 to Variety “I don’t own ‘Rocky‘” sharing that he wanted some kind of annual payment that could be left to his children after his death. “It’s shocking that I never had the rights, but they told me: ‘Hey, at least you got paid, so what are you complaining about?’ he was furious.”
Sylvester Stallone will make his small screen debut in November 2022 starring in ‘Tulsa King,’ a mob series directed by ‘Yellowstone’ creator Taylor Sheridan, and will premiere on August 26 on Amazon Prime Video ‘Samaritan’, his first superhero movie.
