The statue of Dona Florinda can be shot down after the disputes involved the keys

The debut of the “Chespirito series: involuntarily Wanks”, a production of HBO Max who plays the trajectory of Roberto Gómez Bolaños, has rekindled the old tensions involving the actress Florinda Meza. The last episode, published Thursday (18), shows controversial details of the relationship between Bolaños and Florinda, who were married for almost three decades, until the death of the actor in 2014.

The contents of the program divided the fans of the classic series “Chaves” and has increased an unusual movement in the Mexican city of Juchipila, where the artist was born.

The revelations cause a reaction to Juchipila

According to the narrative of the series, Florinda, played under the imaginary name of Margarita Ruíz, was involved in Bolaños while she was still married to Graciela Fernández, mother of her six children. The production presents the character as a manipulative figure, described causing conflicts with the cast companions.

This portrait generated a revolt, in particular among the residents of Juchipila, who started to publicly ask for the withdrawal of a statue in honor of the actress, installed in 2019 in the main garden of the city.

The Town Hall continues to position the actress in favor

Among a popular pressure, the municipal administration has manifested itself in defense of the permanence of the monument. In an official note, the city said that Florinda “is a recognized figure of art and television, whose trajectory has contributed significantly to Mexican culture”.

According to the statement, “no attack will be able to deactivate the light of those who have built a career marked with talent and generosity”.

The mobilization proposes the date for the withdrawal of the monument

The movement that asks for the withdrawal of the sculpture, installed not by his role as Dona Florinda, but for his performances in the soap opera “Milaggro y Magic”, since 1991, has proposed the date of Wednesday (24) for the possible reversal.

The campaign has acquired strength on social networks, with supporters and opponents who discuss the legitimacy of the homage to the interpreter involved in the personal and artistic controversy with Bolaños.

Public statements by Florinda Meza

Florinda used her official Instagram profile to comment on the content of the series and the repercussion around its name:

“I did not have a cause. The person who said this is poorly informed. I have not decided what I will do in the future. Write stories based on what you think it should be, without even respecting my right not to manifest myself on these issues.”

In another part of the affirmation, the actress contrasted the use of old interviews: “As a consequence of this series, the rolled files, have carved out old and contextual interviews and used them against me. In real life – with human beings, not characters of the soap opera – there are many factors to consider”.

Finally, he criticized the public judgment: “Even if I should respect the public, they are not the properties of the media. My name, my image and my life are mine. When I have something to declare, everyone will know … directly from me.”

Context and cultural impact

Despite the confusion, the statue in question honors the artist for his contribution to the Mexican television drama, outside the universe of “Chaves”. However, the actress’s legacy is contested by the population, especially after the exhibition of content that save behind the conflicts of scenes and personal relationships stretched of the past.

The controversy highlights the lasting impact of television productions on the collective memory and the public recognition of its protagonists.
