Ivete Sangalo returned to stage on Saturday evening (26), in Fortaleza, in his first concert after the wake of Preta Gil, held on Friday (25), at the Rio de Janeiro Municipal Theater. In the electric trio of the “if launch” block, the artist Bahian did not contain excitement by dedicating his presentation to his friend, who died on Sunday (20), at the age of 50, due to cancer complications in the intestine.
During the performance, Ivete exhibited Peta Gil images on the great screens and sang “Signs of fire”, the main success of the career of the artist of Rio, as a way of reverence. According to her, this and all future performances will have her friend as inspiration.
“I offer you, black, with all my love, this presentation and all that comes. Of all the artists, and I extend to all the artists,” he said visibly shaken.
Celebration in the middle of desire
The singer strengthened the audience who would continue with the characteristic energy of carnival and marettes.
“We will give, we will have fun. We miss everyone, we will miss people. People like black are rare, they appear once and for all, and she came to fulfill her mission here beautifully. We will not leave the company break, no!”
Still in front of the crowd, Ivete spoke of the greatness of his friend’s trajectory: “Preta Gil is a woman of courage. He taught the essays, he taught his friends, who made his family. He taught the family, whom he transformed into friendship of many. He taught many women, many people.”

Meeting and farewell
The farewell climate had already marked the moments before Fortal. Ivete Sangalo, like other Bahian artists such as Carlinhos Brown and Kanalha, participated in the wake of the artist in Rio de Janeiro, who was open to the public and full of emotion. On social networks, Ivete had already spoken with affectionate statements, including the phrase “I love you infinite”.
On the night of the tribute, Ivete reiterated the importance of Preta Gil’s courage, highlighting the daily overcoming of his friend. “He was building his story, he was overcoming his things every day. Black was a woman in constant evolution and claimed him every day.”
Coping of the disease
Preta Gil began his battle against intestine cancer in January 2023. After a surgery of about 14 hours for the removal of tumor and uterus, he even announced his care at the end of the same year. However, in August 2024, the singer revealed an anniversary of the disease, with metastases in the pelvis.
Subsequently, in December 2024, he suffered a new 21 -hour surgery, which provided for the removal of part of the digestive and lymphatic system. She was hospitalized for 55 days and was discharged only in February 2025.
However, in May, he traveled to the United States to try an experimental treatment, where he died two months later.
Ties beyond music
The connection between Ivete and Black was old and deep. In a 2012 interview with the Xuxa TV program, Prete revealed that Ivete has helped her financially in difficult times, even financing the year of school of her son, Francisco Gil. “Being without money, but not paying Tico’s school is inadmissible,” Ivete would have said, as reported by Gilberto Gil’s daughter.
At the end of the show in Fortaleza, Ivete summarized the emotion of the night with a last sentence, in a farewell tone: “Receive, because I know you are in a place of light”.
