John Travolta REACTED TO OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN’S DEATH: ‘Yours from the first moment I saw you’

John Travolta has reacted to the death of Olvia Newton-John, his best friend of many years and with whom he worked in the film “Grease”.

On August 8, John Easterling, Newton-John’s husband, announced that the actress died this morning “at her ranch in southern California,” at the age of 73, after a several-year battle with breast cancer.

Travolta, whose wife Kelly Preston also died of breast cancer in 2020, played Danny Zuko in “Grease” (1978), while Newton-John played Sandy Olson.

The actor was key for Paramount, the studio behind the acclaimed film, to cast Olivia in the role of Sandy, who was then known as a country and pop singer.

“She had a brilliant voice, and I didn’t think there was anyone else better suited to play Sandy in the entire universe,” John explained to Variety in a report on the anniversary of the shoot.

Carrie Fisher, Susan Dey, Deborah Raffin and Marie Osmond were among the actresses considered for the role, but in the end Alan Carr, the film’s producer, chose (and convinced) Newton-John to be the lead.

John and Olivia continued their friendship after the play ended. In 2019, they played Danny and Sandy again during the event called “Meet n’ Grease sing-along”.

Celebrities mourn the death of Olivia Newton John

In addition to John Travolta, several celebrities have spoken on social networks about the death of Olivia Newton-John.

On Instagram, Barbra Streisand wrote: “Too young to leave this world. May he rest in peace,” and posted a photo of them together.

Singer-songwriter Richard Marx took to Twitter to pay tribute to the late actress, writing an emotional message and sharing photos of them together.

“My heart is broken. Rest now my sweet friend. You were as kind and caring a person as ever. I will miss you every day,” she said.
