Although he was quickly condemned by other members of the organization as racist, “cowardly” and “inappropriate”, Berk’s opinion turned on the yellow light for the cancellation of the Golden Globes. After yet another scandal, the NBC network promptly spoke up and began considering terminating its contract to air the awards.
Berk was removed, but his unreasonable demonstration nonetheless reminded HFPA that it has a habit of announcing measures it never takes.
