Who was Theresa Walcacer
Born in 1944 in Manhumirim, Minas Gerais, she studied philosophy at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), from where she transferred to the National Faculty of Philosophy of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ).
In 1967 he began his career working as a freelancer for magazines Parents and children AND Universal geographic. In 1970 he joined the Research Department of Brazilian newspaperwhere he worked in the International and Culture editorial offices, collaborating with Caderno B.
In a statement given to Memória Globo, Theresa demonstrated her passion for the profession: “The role of journalism is to clarify and translate the facts with the tools we have for texts and images. It is to investigate and provide information in the clearest way possible.”
