What do we see…
A summary of the memorable things we participated in

  • The Telluride Film Festival kicked off Friday morning with its annual brunch. Among those that blend in with the picturesque backdrop of the Rocky Mountains: women are talking rudder Sarah Paul (which will host the festival this evening before the film opens) and its protagonists Frances McDormand, Rooney Mara, Claire Foy s jesse buckle (“It’s like we have a delegation,” Polly told RK); Anne Hathaway accompanies armageddon time Director James Gray (an indie darling who caught SF off guard when she said she’d never been to a festival before); close rudder Lucas no and its protagonist (young) Eden Dambrin; Alejandro G. Inarritu it’s yours Bard Actor, straight from the plane in Venice; empire of light Director Sam Mendes and producer harris pipe; Robert Downey Jr. s suzanne downeywho are here with their Dr. Robert Downey Jr., Boss; and a cardboard cutout of the former German chancellor Angela MerkelHere at the festival, the theme of the document brought by its director, Eva Weber. – SF and RK
  • The Sponsorship Preview of the Telluride Festival on Friday afternoon, which the festival organizers always keep (or try to) keep secret until the end of the showing at the Werner Herzog Theater, has ended for the second time (since called me malala in 2015): Brian FogelIts sequel to the 2017 Oscar-winning documentary icarocalled it Icarus: The Consequences. I won’t talk much about it which Fogel managed to continue the story of the Russian scientist who helped and blew up his country’s doping for the Olympics; It’s just that he’s also brave and flexible. The film still doesn’t have a distributor in the United States, but I can’t imagine, given its quality and punctuality, that it won’t find one soon, perhaps in time to enter this year’s Oscar race. No Oscar-Winning Documentary Sequel Nominated – 2017 a strange sequenceafter 2006 an inconvenient truth, was on the short list, but is first in everything! – SF
  • jason momoaClutch and all recently hit the red carpet outside the DGA Theater for the third season premiere of their epic (And bloody!) Apple TV+ series, to see. While the show may not be a competitor, aquaman A star, of course, it should be – for environmental activism. The event was aluminized manana lu water bottles. “It’s great because I don’t want people to use single-use plastic,” he says. THR. “It’s the only thing we can recycle over and over again. I even prepare dishes so we don’t have to use plastic on set.” At a time marked by excessive plastic consumption, we certainly take our hats off to Mr. Momoa. – CGA

What do we understand…
We heard an interesting collection of noises.

  • Happy 60th birthday to the executive of the Santa Barbara International Film Festival Roger Durling, whose anniversary, August 31, always coincides with the Telluride Film Festival, to which it has participated for 30 years, and celebrates Thursday night with an intimate pre-festival dinner at La Marmotte. – SF
  • Two talented young people in business, director Gaby Polski and producer justin kirockThey got married earlier this year. They remain close friends and both have films that have world premieres at the Toronto International Film Festival within 24 hours of each other: Polsky Kasaban crossingwhat stars Nicolas CageScheduled for 9:30 pm EST on the evening of Friday, September 9, and Causethat Ciarrocchi produced with a production partner Jennifer LawrenceSeptember 10th Saturday September 10th at 5:30 pm EST. Both will participate in each other’s exhibitions. – SF

What do we recommend…
A few things we recommend you check out

  • One of my Telluride traditions every year is to intentionally forget my hat at home, so I “have” to buy a new one at the Overland Sheepskin store on Colorado Ave. I met my mother while paying for this year’s edition. alexa tasson, a graduate of Telluride High (class of 2011), who now works as a production manager in Los Angeles and has a side job selling T-shirts with nasty phrases to film crews. My personal favorites from the small Tassone company called We’re Wrapped are “One More For Safety” and “Where’s Crafty?” T-shirts – RK
  • In the last days of my life, before the fall film festival cycle gets mixed up, I put down two first copies of books I can recommend: Academy and Awards: The Age of the Oscars and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (on shelves Sept. 29), a surprisingly insightful account from the academy’s former CEO Bruce Davis In which Davis, among other notable things, finally solves the mystery of who named this naked golden man an “Oscar” (spoiler alert: Bette Davis was full of it when she claimed her name was the middle name of the first of her four ex-husbands); s Hollywood: an oral history (November 8) by show business bigwigs Jeannine Basiger s sam wasson, which is based on the archives of the American Film Institute, uses the words of Hollywood’s biggest names to tell the story of cinema. In addition to being a good read, both volumes also provide added value as highly effective door hangers. – SF

What do we want to know…
Some questions we’d like to answer

  • As the CGA writes, the overlap between this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards and the Toronto International Film Festival on September 12 will force some talent (eg. smart jeans), advertisers, stylists and, yes, the press, to choose between the two. (“My schedule for the next two weeks is terrifying,” explains stylist Kate Young, while another source calls the chaos imposed by the hectic schedule “a mess”). He asks for a friend. – SF

What do we expect…
A summary of the next things we’re excited about

  • The Toronto International Film Festival’s fourth annual TIFF Awards gala, a fundraiser for the festival’s diversity and inclusion efforts, continues to feature an impressive roster of talent honored at the 9/11 Gathering. This week, the festival announced him as an actor. michelle yoo (everything everywhere at the same time) will be honored with his first Groundbreaker Award;
  • While the Emmy Party of the Week is certainly not back to its pre-pandemic state, the next few days are shaping up to be a whirlwind that’s on its way. We have started our round of red carpet parties and events, with more events to be added in the coming days. Hey HBO, we’ve got our eyes on you! – CGA
