“I am proud to have belonged to the Elizabethan era”
Helen Mirren has paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth II after her death.
Buckingham Palace confirmed the death of Queen Elizabeth II at the age of 96 yesterday (September 8) in Balmoral, Scotland.
The Palace had previously confirmed that the late monarch was under medical supervision at Balmoral, after paramedics became concerned about her health.

Mirren played Queen Elizabeth II in 2006’s ‘The Queen’.a film that earned him an Oscar for his performance .
She also played the Queen on stage in ‘The Audience’ in 2013, a West End play which chronicles the weekly meetings between the Queen and various British Prime Ministers between 1952 and 2013. She won an Olivier Award for her performance.
“I am in mourning along with the rest of my country, a great queen has passed away,” Mirren said (via dead line). “I am proud to belong to the Elizabethan era. If there was a definition of nobility, Elizabeth Windsor embodied it“.
The actress also took to Instagram where she shared a photo of the Queen and captioned the post: “I’m proud to be Elizabethan. We mourn a woman who, with or without the crown, was the epitome of nobility“.

Queen Elizabeth II was the longest-ruling monarch in British history, and King Charles III took office immediately after her death.. She paid an emotional tribute to her mother in a statement.
King Charles’ statement reads: “The death of my beloved Mother, Her Majesty the Queen, is a moment of deepest sadness for me and for all members of my family. We deeply mourn the passing of a dear sovereign and a very dear mother.” Dear.”
Elizabeth II is survived by her four children: King Charles III, plus Anne, the Princess Royal, Prince Andrew, Duke of York and Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, as well as eight grandchildren, including Princes William and Harry, and 12 great-grandchildren.
