Actress Anna Faris (“Mom”) accused director Ivan Reitman (“Ghostbusters”) of abuse when he slapped her on the butt on the set of the romantic comedy “My Super Ex-Girlfriend” (2006). The revelation was made in the most recent episode of her podcast, “Anna Faris Is Unqualified”, released this Wednesday (10/19), in which Faris shared her negative experience with Reitman with fellow actress and director Lena Dunham ( “Girls”).
“One of my hardest film experiences was with Ivan Reitman,” said Faris of the director who died in February at the age of 75. “It’s the idea of trying to do a comedy in a reign of terror. He screamed a lot. He killed someone every day. And my first day, it was me.”
Faris said that while preparing to shoot her first scene in “My Super Ex-Girlfriend,” in which she allegedly battled star Uma Thurman, a hairdresser accidentally spilled wig glue all over her dress. She wore one of the two Yves Saint Laurent sweaters that the wardrobe department had bought for the shoot and had to change quickly.
As a result, Faris arrived about 25 minutes late for filming. She said she was “terrified” that Reitman saw her as “some kind of diva” due to her being late.
“They were shooting at night and Ivan is killing me,” he said. “She always called me Annie. She said, ‘You can’t do this around here’ … and me [internamente] I thought, ‘Don’t do this. Do not Cry. Do not Cry.’ And I felt angry, hurt, humiliated and defensive. “
When he plucked up his courage, Faris asked the director if “no one told you what happened?” and after that he “kept quiet and … went behind the camera”. As if that weren’t enough, he said that “later he slapped my ass too. It was a weird moment.”
It is not the first time that Anna Faris talks about what happened. Without naming names, she said in a 2017 episode of her podcast of hers that at the time all she could do was “laugh” after a director “slapped her on the ass in front of the crew.”
“I remember looking around and seeing staff members saying, ‘Wait, what are you going to do about it? It got weird,'” he said in 2017. “And that’s why I ignored it. like … ‘It’s not a big deal. Go ahead, Faris. Just laugh.’ “
“But it made me feel small,” she added. “She wouldn’t have done it to the protagonist.” Around the same time, Faris also said the director told his agent he got a role in his film in part because he “had nice legs”.
During his conversation with Lena Dunham, Faris reflected that the alleged behavior of Reitman, known for directing classic comedies such as “Ghostbusters” (1984), “Twins” (1988) and “Junior” (1994), was in line with an old Hollywood “mentality” that a leader “should be a scary asshole.”
“For one thing, it was nothing. Anyway, my ass is fine,” he said. “On the other hand, there were like 30 people around me waiting for me to do something, and I didn’t.”
