‘It opened my eyes’: Prince Harry speaks candidly about psychotherapy sessions

The other day, 38-year-old Prince Harry took part in the inaugural Masters of Scale summit. During the conversation, he told how psychotherapy and work with a coach influenced his life and helped him understand where to move on after the so-called “megzit” (the Sussexes’ departure to the USA and their refusal from royal obligations).

The moment I started therapy, it opened my eyes,” the duke said. “I moved through life thinking there was only one way to live. And therapy burst that bubble. Then, when I came to coaching, the next bubble burst, and suddenly I realized that I now have a perspective and an awareness of my own value. I regained the confidence that I thought I never had.

The duke admitted that while growing up in the royal family and then serving in the army, he did not know anything about therapy. This way of getting out of problems was shown to him by his wife, Meghan Markle, who, by the way, also always speaks frankly about your mental health. So, in 2021, in an interview with Oprah Winfrey, she admitted that she had suicidal thoughts while she lived in the palace.

Recall that in 2017, Harry openly talked about how much his psyche was affected by the tragic death of his mother, Princess Diana, in 1997. At that time, the Duke of Sussex was only 12 years old.
