This Tuesday (22), the singer and songwriter Erasmus Charles died after being intubated with an oedematous syndrome. He was 81 years old and was hospitalized in Barra D’Or hospital in Rio de Janeiro. The artist leaves behind his wife and three children.

Erasmus in the Young Guard
In 1960 Erasmo distinguished himself in the young guard with the duo Roberto e Erasmus Charles as a major composer. He, like many artists of the time, was inspired by the American icon The Beatles and Rio de Janeiro, moved to São Paulo and thus became one of the biggest references of bossa nova and MPB.
Return home and presentation at Rock in Rio
Nostalgia for Rio took hold and he returned to Rio de Janeiro, after recording the song Aquarela do Brasil, in 1969. In 1985 he performed at the first edition of Rock in Rio.
