Roberta Russo was ready and with the default script when she received the news of the firing
The employee layoffs aren’t over yet at CNN Brasil. This Friday (2), journalist Roberta Russo was called into the station’s human resources moments before going live on “Expresso CNN”.
The host, who was filling in for Elisa Veeck over the holiday period, was ready and on script when she received the news. Roberta has also acted as a substitute for other starters.
The channel also decided to eliminate the “Expresso CNN” newscast. Therefore, Elisa Veeck will be internally transferred as soon as she returns from her days off.
Roberta Russo has been working for CNN Brasil since January 2020. Previously, the journalist was part of the BandNews team, where she worked as a presenter for 4 years.
CNN Brasil fired more than 100 professionals Thursday (1) after closing its Rio de Janeiro branch and starting a restructuring process. So far it is not known exactly how many employees have left the station. The journalists’ union continues to investigate the case.
