The action-packed war film stars Jonathan Majors, Glen Powell and Joe Jonas
Distributed by Diamond Films, the new war epic “Irmãos de Honra” hit theaters across Brazil this Thursday, December 8. Directed by JD Dillard, the film tells the true story of Jesse Brown (Jonathan Majors), the first African-American aviator in the United States Navy, and his friendship with fellow fighter pilot Tom Hudner, played by Glen Powell.

Joe Jonas and Khalid made a song and video for the film
OR blow “Not Alone” was created specifically for the “Brothers of Honor” soundtrack. Joe Jonas, who is also cast in the film, invited Khalid to compose the music. The music video, shot at Hangar 21 in California, features Joe and Khalid performing in front of a real aircraft that was used in the film’s recordings.
The friendship between Jesse Brown and Tom Hudner is one of the central themes of the story.
The two young fighter pilots are accepted into an elite squadron of the United States Navy for training during the Korean War. They are pushed to the limit to become the best pilots as they form a strong friendship.

Director JD Dillard’s connection to the theme of the film
Director JD Dillard (“Sleight: The Perfect Trick”) grew up hearing about his father’s experiences as the second African-American member of the Blue Angels, the United States Navy’s elite squadron of ambassador pilots. So when Dillard heard Jesse Brown and Tom Hudner’s story, he knew he had to tell it.
“My earliest memories are of aviation. The naval bases, the smell of jet fuel, that whole world…it’s all related to my earliest memories, and being a part of the film brought me back to those places,” he says Dillard.
Behind the story of “Brothers of Honor” are real people
Based on the true story of Jesse Brown and Tom Hudner, the film is inspired by the best seller “Devotion: An Epic Story of Heroism, Brotherhood and Sacrifice” written by Adam Makos. For the film crew, authenticity, from the setting to the costumes and aircraft, was the only way to honor this heartwarming story. The Brown and Hudner families were also involved in the film’s development.
The film is released in Brazilian theaters in dubbed and subtitled versions
