The work of the Espírito Santo designer, who has a 25-year career behind him, is an object coveted by four drivers this Sunday (11) at the Interlagos Circuit
the title of series machine 2022, played in the phase of Interlake this Sunday (11), takes the form of the trophy given to the champion. The work is produced by the internationally awarded plastic artist Ana Paula Castro, who has been producing steel parts for 25 years.
In 43 years, Stock Car has already used its cups to refer to the title. The trophy that will be hoisted on Sunday was commissioned by ArcelorMittal for the plastic artist from Espírito Santo. “As a designer, I always look for sustainable raw materials for my work. And ArcelorMittal steel is perfect for this, as it is renewable and extremely resistant, as well as having the lowest possible environmental impact,” he says.
The trophy has stems that seek to represent the tracks that hosted Stock’s 2022 season and support what Ana Paula has termed the “Perfect Circle”: a representation of the fusion of championship layouts to symbolize the victorious campaign achieved by the new champion.
“I started thinking about how I could bring all these stages together in a circle, in a circuit, all the action in one place. This is how the idea of the Perfect Circle was born, which contains and symbolizes all the races of the 2022. These races intertwine to form a larger circle, which is actually the grand finale. I created a jersey from the Stock Car logo itself, which gives the idea of the checkered flag moving, with dynamism. I was happy of the result, and I think the piece was beautiful and full of positive meanings of sport,” he concluded.
Nearly 2000 trophies
In its 586 races, Stock Car has distributed a total of 1,831 trophies to podium finishers, in addition to 42 champions, including races held in pairs. The greatest champion in history, Ingo Hoffmann, for example, has the heaviest shelf, with 170 trophies won in Stock Car – 158 podiums (with 77 victories) and 12 championship titles. Among active drivers, Cacá Bueno has won 90 cups – 85 in the first 3 races of the category (with 37 victories obtained) and five championship trophies.
Stock Car also stood out for the development of themed trophies. Last year, for example, the category promoted a popular vote to choose the design of the piece and enthusiasts elected a piston-shaped trophy to reward the best places in each race.
A national icon of jewelry known throughout the world, José Carlos Guerreiro was the artist who designed the 2021 champion’s trophy. Delivered to Gabriel Casagrande, the work bears Guerreiro’s trademark: the famous stylized knot. The design impressed the driver so much that the man from Paraná had the image of the most important achievement of his career tattooed on his arm.
Stock Car trophies have already celebrated historic circuits, honored cities, and even commemorative dates that coincided with races. For the 2022 season, the category has returned to thematic trophies using elements that allude to the places where the competitions took place. The popular Corrida de Duplas, for example, had as its theme the famous Ponte Estaiada, a modern symbol of São Paulo. The chimarrão bowl was the inspiration for the bowls for the Velopark stage, in Nova Santa Rita, Rio Grande do Sul. The flag of that state was the backdrop for the trophies presented in Santa Cruz do Sul, another Stock location in Rio Grande do Sul.
Adhemar Cabral is another celebrated artist who has given new meaning to the category’s trophy collection. It was he who signed the piece delivered to the winner at the GP Galeão, which marked the return of Stock Car to Rio de Janeiro after a decade. The inspiration combined elements of aviation, the speed of cars and the legendary promenade of Copacabana beach.
The BRB Super Final races will take place on Sunday 11 December. The first race is scheduled for 14:15, while the last race of the championship is scheduled for 14:55, always lasting 30 minutes plus one lap. The Stock Car Pro Series is broadcast on Band, SporTV, youtube channel category and average Stage🇧🇷
