Writer Gloria Perez’s lawsuit against Paula Thomaz, who killed her daughter Daniella Perez, concluded earlier this month. The decision took place on the recommendation of the Public Prosecutor of Rio de Janeiro (MP-RJ).
Although the author of “Travessia” won the case, the prosecution said Paula has no financial condition or assets that could be pledged to comply with the court’s decision.
Until then, the decision was for Paula to pay BRL 480,000 in compensation for moral damages and reimbursement of funeral expenses for actress Daniella Perez.
As the judicial process between the two sides has lasted more than 15 years, Congressman RJ considered in his request to dismiss the case that the case is unlikely to have a resolution.
Previously, the Justice had decreed the foreclosure of the apartment of Sérgio Rodrigues Peixoto, Paula’s husband since 2001. But the couple challenged the decision and a new sentence held that the property could not be used to pay the fine, since the crime was committed nine years before the couple met.
“It makes no sense to intend, with a clear violation of the constitutional principle of transcendence, to pay the creditors of the insolvent woman with the fruits of her current husband’s work”, declared the prosecutor Leonardo Marques, author of the filing request.
