Netflix announces the premiere date of its first live show

Netflix has released the poster and teaser for Chris Rock’s comedy show, who will be the first artist to perform live on the streaming platform. The material announces that the stand-up special, dubbed “Selective Outrage,” will air on the service on March 4.

“Chris Rock is one of the most iconic and important comedic voices of our generation,” Robbie Praw, vice president of stand-up and comedy formats at Netflix, said in a statement about the attraction. “We are thrilled that the entire world can experience a Chris Rock live comedy event and this will be part of Netflix history. This will be an unforgettable moment and we are so honored that Chris carries that torch.”

The project will be Rock’s second stand-up special on Netflix. His first, ‘Chris Rock: Tamborine’ premiered in February 2018.

The veteran comedian, who once had a series based on his life (“Everybody Hates Chris”), dominated the headlines of American humor in 2022 after making a joke about actress Jada Pinket Smith’s bald head at the latest Academy Awards and seeing her husband, Will Smith, step up on stage to slap her across the face during the live stream.
