Music Producer Clive Davis Reacts to Whitney Houston’s Death

Grammy Award-winning music producer Clive Davis said he was shocked by the death of cult singer Whitney Houston. The performer died in 2012 due to alcohol intake along with illegal drugs. The singer had a heart attack and fell into a tub of water. Her producer spoke to journalist Don Lemon from CNN. The conversation was timed to coincide with the release of the biopic about the singer “I want to dance with someone”, the creator of which was Davis.

Clive Davis said that on the day of his death, Whitney was supposed to attend his party. The producer noted that at that time the star “made a courageous attempt to clean up and rehabilitate.” They saw each other 48 hours before death.

She showed me what she was doing in rehab. Whitney quit smoking, cleared herself of nicotine. And she wanted to start going to the studio … 48 hours before her death, I would not have thought that she would die, that her life would end so horribly and prematurely, – Davis recalled.

The main role in the biopic “I Want to Dance with Someone” was played by the star of the TV series “The End of the Fucking World” Naomi Ekki. She faced the difficult task of not just portraying Houston, but copying the iconic vocal as accurately as possible. The director of the tape was Kasi Lemmons, best known for her work on the script of the sensational “Bohemian Rhapsody”.
