Princess Diana’s evening dress is up for auction. It was put up for auction by Sotheby’s and is estimated by experts at about 80-120 thousand dollars (from 5 to 8 million rubles). Information appeared on the website of the New York auction house.
The eggplant-colored velvet dress was designed by fashion designer Viktor Edelstein in 1989. It is decorated with three large gold buttons on the back. In 1991, in this image, Diana posed with Prince Charles for an official picture taken by Lord Snowdon. In the same year, artist Douglas Harding Anderson depicted the princess in a dress in a portrait that was exhibited at the Royal Marsden Hospital, where she donated money. Also in 1997, Diana appeared in this outfit for a photo shoot for Vanity Fair magazine.

Then the famous dress was among the lots that the princess sold at Christie’s a month before her death. It was purchased for 24 thousand dollars. All money raised during the auction went to the Cancer Fund of the Royal Marsden Hospital and the AIDS Foundation.
Recall that excerpts from the memoirs of Prince Harry were leaked to the press the other day. In one of the fragments of the book, the Duke of Sussex spoke about how he considered the death of his mother, Princess Diana, to be staged. At the time of the tragic death of Lady Di, the Duke of Sussex was only 12 years old.
