Actress Kate Hudson, who starred in the recent high-profile sequel to Knives Out, has been featured on Drew Barrymore’s author’s talk show The Drew Barrymore Show. Longtime friends and successful women with multiple children discussed relationships with former partners amid joint custody.

Drew has two daughters, 10-year-old Olive and 8-year-old Frankie. Barrymore gave birth to girls from art consultant Will Kopelman. And Kate, in turn, is raising 18-year-old Ryder with ex-husband Chris Robinson, 11-year-old Bingham with Matt Bellamy, and 4-year-old daughter Rani Rose with current fiancé Danny Fujikawa. Hudson noted that it is extremely important to maintain a good relationship with the father of the children.

I think love changes shape. You can’t just stop loving someone. Even in the worst possible scenario. Even in relationships that can go completely wrong. I believe there is always a way to go back to looking for a moment where you can be compassionate and still feel that love, just in a different way.

Plus, I’ve made mistakes in the past, too,” Drew said.

Drew and Kate came to the conclusion about how important it is not to accumulate negativity and be able to let go of the past. Actresses believe that they need to “protect their exes” in order to move on.

Previously, Drew Barrymore went through a difficult breakup with Will Kopelman. The family idyll ended four years after the wedding. Former lovers publicly announced the breakup, but did not go into details.
