Noah Schnapp, Will of ‘Stranger Things’, declares himself gay with a video

“I guess I’m more like Will than I thought.”

‘Stranger Things’ star Noah Schnapp has come out as gay in a video. The 18-year-old actor who plays Will Byers shared a humorous video on TikTok on Thursday (January 5) where he explained that he had come out to his friends and family. He does it casually, mimicking a recent trend on TikTok.

When I finally told my friends and family that I was gay after being scared in the closet for 18 years, all they said was “We know.”

His caption further added: “I guess I’m more like Will than I thought.”

Noah was referring to the fact that his character in ‘Stranger Things’ is gay and has had a secret crush on his best friend Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard). The series has faced criticism for its treatment of the character of Will, as many have taken issue with the confusing way he is talked about on screen.

Just this week, Schnapp addressed his character’s sexuality by promising fans they’ll get much-needed closure in the fifth and final season of the Netflix series.

“I can only tell you that I am very, very excited for what is to come,” he declared in an interview with Forbes.

I think they did a great job with the character of Will this season and beautifully addressed everything they needed to. The way they closed the series is just perfect: the story started with Will and it will end with Will.

As for his personal announcement, Schnapp has received overwhelming support on his TikTok account, with many fans sharing how proud they are of the young actor.

The first four seasons of ‘Stranger Things’ are available on Netflix, if there is anyone left who has not seen them yet. Meanwhile, they are working on the fifth and final season of the eighties phenomenon.
