20-year-old Grammy winner Billy Eilish posed for the first ever Vogue cover video. In a new interview, the performer frankly told the magazine about the difficulties with the perception of her own appearance.

In adolescence, when I hated myself, a lot of it came from anger at my body, from the fact that I was angry at how much pain it caused me and how much I lost because of what happened to it.

Billy was referring to the hip injury that prevented her from building a dancing career.

I had to go through the process of realizing that my body — this is me. And it doesn’t try to catch me.

According to the singer, branded baggy outfits — this is her “armor” from shame for her own figure. She decided to redefine her body image by wearing a waist-hugging Oscar de la Renta tulle gown to the 2021 Met Gala. After that, one of the creative directors of the fashion house, Laura Kim, said:

What inspired me the most on the creative side was that this 19-year-old girl looked us in the eyes and said: “I want to do something that scares me.”

Billie Eilish has previously commented on her relationship with The Neighborhood lead singer Jesse Rutherford for the first time. The stars confirmed the romance just a month ago.
