Michael Bay faces conviction in Italy for the death of a pigeon on the set of ‘6 in the shade’, the Netflix movie starring Ryan Reynolds that the filmmaker filmed in 2018.
The Wrapwho has reported exclusively on the incident, states that Bay categorically denies the allegations.: “I am a well-known animal lover and a great animal activist. No animals involved in the production were injured or harmed. Or in any other production in which he has worked in the last 30 years.”
The dove of contention was allegedly hit by a forklift in the middle of a shot of action in Rome. A person, who has chosen to remain anonymous, witnessed the incident, took a photo and reported it to the Italian authorities.
“We have clear video evidenceBay said, “and a host of witnesses and security officers that exonerate us from this crimeand who refute the photo of this paparazzi, who has invented a false story”.
Pigeons are a protected species in Italy under a law that prohibits harming, killing or capturing any wild bird.
Bay’s lawyers have tried to appeal the complaint three times, without success. “The Italian authorities offered me the opportunity to settle this matter by paying a small fine, but I refused to do so because I would not plead guilty to having harmed an animal.Bay added.
‘6 in the shade’ was shot between July and December 2018 in Italian locations such as Rome, Florence, Siena and Taranto. The action movie, which became one of the best Netflix original movies, featured Ryan Reynolds as the billionaire leader of a group of six who fake his death to form an underground international crime action group. Dave Franco, Adria Arjona, Manuel García-Rulfo, Corey Hawkins, Ben Hardy and Mélanie Laurent completed the cast.
