The rite of confirmation – the first communion – is for Protestants a kind of symbol of coming of age. A year ago, the heir to the Danish throne, Prince Christian, grew up to him. And the other day, for the first time, his sister, Princess Isabella, took communion and thereby consciously chose the faith of her people.

Last Saturday, the Danish royal family gathered at Fredensborg Castle Church to witness an important event. Guests included Isabella’s parents, Crown Princess Mary, 50, and Prince Frederik, 53, and her siblings Christian, 16, and twins Josephine and Vincent, 11.

For her confirmation ceremony, Princess Isabella chose her mother’s iconic Max Mara white trouser suit and Queen Alexandrine’s pearl and diamond brooch. Her mother, Mary, chose an amaranth-colored dress for the event, and her younger sister, Josephine, wore a pink dress once worn by Isabella. The entire male part of the family was dressed in simple but spectacular blue suits.

Recall that Queen Margrethe II, who has been ruling since 1972, is now in power in Denmark. Recently, on April 16, she celebrated her 82nd birthday. The Queen and her late husband, Prince Henrik of Denmark (who passed away in 2018) have two sons. The eldest, HRH Crown Prince Frederik and his wife, Crown Princess Mary, have four children. The youngest son of Queen Margrethe, Joachim, is also a father of many children. He has three sons and a daughter: Nicholas and Felix from his first marriage to Countess Alexandra of Frederiksborg and Henrik and Athena from his second marriage to Marie Cavalier.

Princess Isabella, the hero of the occasion, was born on April 21, 2007 at 16:02 in Copenhagen at the University Hospital with a weight of 3350 g and a height of 50 cm, and was baptized on July 1 in the same church of Fredensborg Castle. She received the names Henrietta, Margrethe and Ingrid in honor of her grandmothers and great-grandmothers. Since August 13, 2013 she has been attending the Tranegard school in Gentoft. In the list of the Danish throne, the princess ranks third after her father and older brother.
