Princess Azema Nimatul Bolkiah, daughter of the Sultan of the island state of Brunei, was married to Prince Bahar ibn Jefri Bolkiah. Interestingly, he is Azema’s cousin. According to The New York Post, the wedding ceremony took place on January 8 at the palace of the groom’s father, on the island of Borneo.

This is the first royal wedding in 2023. The celebrations continued throughout the week. Such a scale will be envied by any royal person! The celebration began with a reception in the banquet hall of the palace, after which the newlyweds went through seven more ceremonies. Among them was the traditional rite of powdering – receiving blessings from families.

On the last day of the celebration, which fell on January 15, the bride’s younger brother, Prince Mateen, congratulated the newlyweds on social networks.

I’m so happy for my sister,” he captioned the photo, which captured moments from the two ceremonies.

During the entire celebration, the bride changed several outfits. Among them, an ivory-colored dress encrusted with crystals and a gray color scheme were seen. The princess complemented the images with spectacular jewelry, including a diadem with a diamond in the shape of a heart. The accessory belonged to her stepmother, Queen Saleha.

The Sultan of Brunei, 76-year-old Hassanal Bolkiah, after the death of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain, ranked first in the world in terms of the duration of his reign. He was proclaimed Sultan on October 5, 1967. Princess Azema Nimatul Bolkiah, 38, is the Sultan’s eighth child with his ex-wife Haji Mariam.
