Annie Wersching, the actress who gave life to the original Tess of ‘The Last of Us,’ dies

At 45, Annie Wersching had participated in series such as ‘General Hospital’, ’24’, ‘The Vampire Chronicles’, ‘Bosch’ and the recent ‘Star Trek: Picard’.

The actress Annie Wersching dies at the age of 45 from cancer. This was confirmed on Sunday, January 29, by different relatives of the actress, who created an online financing campaign to help her family.

“Annie was diagnosed with cancer in the summer of 2020,” says the description of the recent page of GoFundMe. “She’s a naturally reserved person and the diagnosis made her even more reserved. She wanted to protect her children. She wanted to get better so she could continue working. And honestly, she didn’t want to talk about it. She wanted to live her life, her way, and be with your family”.

“Annie lived for her family. She loved her job and appreciated her friends, but Steve and the children were everything to her. This GoFundMe is for them,” it is specified, making clear the precariousness of the US health system, capable of suffocating a family with children of 12, 9 and 4 years old at a time like this. “It’s to give them time to navigate life as a family of four without the burden of paying medical bills or funeral expenses. It’s so they can continue to live life in a way they know would make Annie proud.”

“Today there is a cavernous hole in the soul of this family. But she left us the tools to fill it,” confesses Stephen Full, Wersching’s husband.

Wersching was born in Missouri, United States, on March 28, 1977. She graduated in Fine Arts and specialized in Musical Theater from Millikin University in 1999. He began his career with a small role in ‘Star Trek: Enterprise’ in 2002 to continue playing supporting roles in hits like ‘Frasier’, ‘Angel’, ‘Charmed’ and ‘Boston Legal’. His first big break came with ‘General Hospital’, where he played Amelia Joffe in 80 episodes..

After passing through the health center it was the turn of Renee Walker, her character in seasons 7 and 8 of ’24’ and, in 2013, interpreted with his voice and through motion capture Tess, one of the main characters of the video game ‘The Last of Us’now become one of the best series on HBO Max.

Lily Salvatore in ‘The Vampire Diaries’, Emma Whitmore in ‘Timeless’, Leslie Dean in ‘Runaways’ and Julia Brasher in ‘Bosch’ were some of her last roles before playing the Borg queen in ‘Star Trek: Picard’.

Currently, he was working alongside Nathan Fillion and Alyssa Diaz on ‘The Rookie’, the ABC series created by Alexi Hawley.
