Artem, congratulations on a big event: soon you will become a dad. How did you find out about the pregnancy, was it a surprise?

To be honest, I reacted very calmly. Because I am quite superstitious and did not want to rejoice ahead of time, as, indeed, now. Until I take my child in my arms, I try to treat everything with restraint. There was no surprise, we found out about it together. Sasha (Artyom’s wife) and I vacationed in Valdai in the summer, and when we flew home, she calmly said: “Artyom, I think I’m pregnant.” And I also noticed the day before, on vacation, that she was behaving rather strangely. She reacted to some things differently than usual. He laughs, then cries even from a harmless joke. It was unusual for me, because Sasha and I have humor at a very cool level. And here she is talking about pregnancy. I started laughing like I didn’t believe it. And I say: “Let’s do a test.” And at 12 o’clock in the morning we went to the pharmacy for a test, which showed what I really wanted to be sure of.

Already know the gender of the baby? Did you come up with a name?

Of course I know (smiles). Usually large-scale holidays are arranged on this occasion, but we did not want to celebrate loudly. We called the closest and dearest people and ordered a cake with colored filling. I think soon Sasha will declassify everything in his social networks. With what to call there were no problems: for any gender, I had already chosen a name for a long time. Sasha supported me, she liked it. It is very strong, sonorous and rare. Favorite name, which means a lot to me.

What kind of father do you see yourself as?

I think it’s a little crazy. I am a supporter of the upbringing that my parents gave me. — it was they who laid in me what companies to hang out in, how to act. My father did the right thing when he informed me that he did not want a dependent son. I was very lucky that I was brought up like that, but I think that I will be completely different. I’m just judging by Sasha. In general, I became a father a long time ago, apparently with her (laughs). And I have been feeling this responsibility for a long time, because everything is united in Sasha: she and my wife, and my child, and the most passionate woman for me, and a friend — all together, the whole spectrum of feelings. And judging by the way I watch her, our Spitz Teddy, with a child, I will be completely crazy. Sasha recently posted a funny photo on her blog with a sloth holding three babies. Here I am — the main sloth, who has a wife, a dog and an unborn child in his arms.

Did Sasha change during pregnancy?

Thanks to the Almighty: I don’t notice at all that she is pregnant! I was so afraid of this period in the example of my friends, relatives, various TV shows and biographies. I have the best woman! She does not want something strange, she does not ask for it at four in the morning, her mood has not changed, and outwardly she has become even more beautiful. Are there girls who are not adorned with pregnancy ?!

Last year, on your wedding day, you released the song “Three Words”, and now you have presented the new album “February”. Is he also associated with this event?

Unless, due to pregnancy, I did not have time to pass it in January (laughs). I was born in August and I love hot weather but my favorite month is — January. It is always a new page in life, new tasks, a new me, new plans and dreams. This is such an upgrade. And I like to meet the end of the old and the beginning of the new year at work. This year I worked abroad: when you enter the year directly from the stage, and enter with a new repertoire that works all 365 days — This is cool. January — the best month for releasing music, but I simply did not have time. I’ll tell you a little secret: we worked right away in those places — Hong Kong, Bali and Moscow. And we had exactly an hour to turn in the material if we wanted to release it in February. Either I make it or I don’t — and the album is moved to March. Thanks to fate that we managed to do everything.

There will be no song dedicated to pregnancy on the record. But, one way or another, each single is dedicated to some important moment of my life. New album — this is the eternal theme of love, which I now approach more consciously. This is the first album that I wrote already in marriage. The most personal single was “The City Remembers”, which I wrote for 8 months. The song is very honest, about our capital. We so often sing about Moscow, and so rarely say what exactly we love about it. This song is about the fact that everyone associates this city with something of their own.

But the main song was “February”, which was written by Artik. And not only because the album comes out in February. This composition is about how sometimes love is cold, but this cold eventually brings you warmth. You let go, but you feel good from thinking about the past. I want everyone to hear it and understand how important it is to be filled from the inside.

You have a lot of duets. Will there be anything on the album other than the track “If” with Misha Marvin? After the “Battle of Generations” on MUZ TV, many people talked about the collaboration with Larisa Dolina. You yourself made a wish.

This is the only duet single on the album, but if we talk about feats – this year there will be many. The album “February” I saw just like that. There is a lot of material that has been waiting for its release for a very long time, for example, the solo song Artik, which he wrote. I could not share these songs with someone. But now, in the new year, collabs will become more interesting. And thanks to the “Battle of Generations” I have already managed to sing my song “PS” with Larisa Aleksandrovna at her teleconcert. And I know for sure that this year I will show her a new song. This will be an important page in my life. I know what song she needs and I know that she can sing it very beautifully.

How do you decide who to duet with?

It’s magic… It’s real chemistry. Like love, I guess. It is very important that the voices fit together so that the souls feel the same. If we talk about male duets, then it’s like a relationship with a best friend — you have something to talk about with him, something to tell, and he is pleased with your outlook on life. Also in a duet there should be a pleasant timbre. You have to get high from this artist, know his tracks, experience something personal to the accompaniment of his songs. I’m like that with everyone. Every duet I made — from Djigan to Ani Lorak.

What is the most expensive song from your repertoire?

It’s probably Sad Dance. If you count also the shooting of the clip. A lot of effort, time and money was invested in this track. But if we talk about buying a song: if you like it, if you see your story in it — she is priceless. It is very important to get in touch with the composer and make sure that he is imbued with your story and understands why you should perform this song. I had this. But now more and more my team and I write ourselves.

Judging by social networks, you spent most of the winter abroad — Germany, Turkey, Georgia, Uzbekistan… What were you doing there? Worked or rested?

I was on tour and transfers between them. On New Year’s Eve he performed in Germany, then brought his family to Tbilisi for a couple of days. I really wanted to celebrate the New Year holidays with my family. We arrived in a large group and had a great rest for 2-3 days, after which I flew to perform in Uzbekistan. This spring I am preparing a tour that will include about 30-40 cities, including European ones.

Which country did you like the most?

In Russia! Our country is so diverse — places, nationalities — I will never cease to be amazed at everything she has to offer. It is impossible to get fed up with Russia, it is so wide.

But you also sing in Spanish. Do you plan to continue recording foreign tracks and conquer foreign audiences?

Yes, there would be to cope with our audience (laughs). I have a great repertoire in Spanish. We do not leave this idea, just here and now there is a lot of work, a lot of what is important to prove to yourself first of all. Therefore, the main language and the main country — did you understand (smiling).
