One of the most commented topics at the beginning of February is the announcement of the singer Bruno Mars at The Town festival. He learn more about one of today’s leading artists and the festival that promises to “compete” with Rock in Rio.
-
The “compete” is in quotation marks because both are organized by Artplan, Roberto Medina’s entertainment company. It is also an advertising agency.

The festival had its creation announced in 2022. It will be in odd numbered years, in São Paulo. Rock in Rio will now be in even years. Thus, the two largest cities of Brazil will be honored and neither will be “jealous” of the other.
-
Rock in Rio was born in 1985. Subsequently, it had editions in 1991 and 2001. Since 2011 the idea was to leave it in odd years, as also happened in 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019. The 2021 edition was postponed to last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

So, it should have had Rock in Rio in 2023, but now it will be in even years in order not to clash with The Town and also not have Rock in Rio two years in a row (2022 and 2023).

This way, the public will have a great music festival to attend every year. In Brazil there is also Lollapalooza, imported from the USA.

This, in turn, has been annual since 2012. The exceptions were 2020 and 2021, due to the pandemic. Already in 2022, it was only in December. Traditionally it takes place over three days, between the end of March and/or the beginning of April. In 2023, it will be between March 24 and 26, at the Interlagos Circuit.

The stage is the same as The Town, which will be on the weekends of the 2nd and 3rd; 9 and 10 September. There will also be concerts on the 7th, a national holiday. Thus, there are five days of partying, against the traditional 7 of Rock in Rio, which is also usually in September.
-
As in Rock in Rio, The Town will have two stages: a main one (Skyline) and a secondary one (The One). There will be 12 hours a day of attractions, which should go beyond music.
-
For now, the festival has only announced that sales of The Town Card, equivalent to the Rock in Rio Card, will open on March 14th at 7pm. This is equivalent to a day of celebration, in the most popular sector, the lawn.
-
Those who buy it (770 reais) will then have to queue up to try and choose the day they want. But there will be a day for him, of course. The choice of day must be made within 24 hours of the opening of the general sale. This should be cheaper, but the risk of not getting the desired date is higher.
-
Bruno Mars will perform on the 10th, at the Skyline Stage. There are still more announcements to be made, but Iza, also on Skyline, and João, on The One, are confirmed. Post Malone, Maroon 5 and Foo Fighters are other major international attractions.
