Already a tradition: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at a polo match in Santa Barbara

Last Saturday, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were first seen in public after their tripand to the Netherlands for the Invincible Games. The couple came to Santa Barbara for the first friendly polo game of the year as part of charity tournament Sentebale Polo Cup established by His Highness. The Duke of Sussex played with his buddies in a team called Los Padres, and Meghan closely watched the match and cheered him on.

For outdoors, the Duchess of Sussex chose a “not royal” wardrobe item – black short shorts, which she combined with a white loose-fitting blazer, black Chanel ballerinas, and Valentino sunglasses. By the way, this jacket was very similar to the Valentino jacket in which she appeared at the Invictus Games.

Of course, the Sussexes were not without communication with Nacho Figueres, a longtime friend of Prince Harry, titled polo player and brand ambassador Ralph Lauren. After the game, he wrote on his blog that he was very happy to play with him again:

Excited to be able to ride with my friend Prince Harry and the rest of the Los Padres crew at @santabarbarapoloclub’s Harry East Memorial Tournament. We’ve ridden together over the years, and now that we’re both parents, being able to spend time together is something special.

He also explained the name of their team:

The name Los Padres was inspired by the proximity of the polo field to the Los Padres National Forest, as well as our bond as fathers.

The last time Harry and Nacho played polo last August was not in Santa Barbara, but in Aspen, Colorado. But, apparently, now the couple did not dare to leave their children for a long time – son Archie, who will turn 3 on May 6, and 10-month-old daughter Lilibet Diana – at home in Montecito.

Recall these polo games organized by the charitable organization Sentebale. Harry is one of the founders of Sentebale and this is not the first time he has taken part in such an event, including as a player. Sentebale was established by Prince Harry in 2006. Its main goal is to help African children diagnosed with HIV.

The Sentebale Polo Cup is critical to getting the funds needed to help those in need and I am very happy to be able to support the Sentebale both personally and financially through a separate donation. Our mission is to meet the most urgent needs of sick children in southern Africa, to provide them with access to life-saving medical services and receive the assistance they need, the prince said.
